Plot Update: August 21st, 2015
So how about those dinosaurs, eh?
Welcome to our first mod discussion/plot update! As opposed to the regular formal plot [psts, these are to provide updates to overarching game plot lines as they progress! They are intended to be a little more informal, and offer the discussion floor to the players for what they might want to see stemming from the game plot, or any pertinent questions to immediate goings-on!
For the record, our apologies that this took some time to come out - Plurk being a mess this week has impeded some discussions, along with the dreaded real life. We'll be sure to be more timely with updates in the future!
Echo Incursion Aftermath
So all of those dinosaurs didn't quite just... disappear, did they? While subdued more or less by the joint effort of the Numbered, many of the dinosaurs are still very much alive. Which begs the question of just how on Earth such creatures are going to be dealt with! Surely, there are those in power who would surely just do away with them - but both animal rights activists and scientists the world over have gotten up in arms over anyone daring to suggest such a thing!
Enter: Benjamin Factor. Perhaps you've seen his name tossed about here or there since the opening of the game. You may know he is influential and responsible for helping the Numbered establish themselves in Shephard's Haven, as well as giving them access to transporters hidden across the world to access important locations. He's certainly a man with connections, and knowledge. An awful lot of knowledge - just how can he know and do these things, anyhow?
Yet, he's never been anything but benevolent to the Numbered, and in fact has taken their side when some segments of the world would rather run them out of society. As the Numbered's battle with the dinosaurs wound to a close, Factor Industries leapt into action to try and secure a means of safely subduing and keeping the creatures in captivity. Construction has been round the clock, and society as a whole has learned just how much sedative it takes to safely keep a Tyrannosaurus Rex docile. Fun facts for news tickers!
Expect to see more of Mr. Factor soon, and don't worry - you'll get an idea sooner rather than later on just what's going on with him.
Also, with those dinosaurs? If YOUR character has done anything with them, as I know a couple have, please update us so we have a clear idea and can document just what's going on!
So... what's going on elsewhere?
Of course, there's still the apparitions, born of past lives' memories appearing in Shephard's Haven. They won't interact with those they might be scaring the life out of, but seem otherwise harmless.
Meanwhile in Locke City, pink, stone snakes much like the ones that drew form the Wise Snake continue to appear from time to time. One might not be surprised to see the military engaging these things, as well as... Thunder Corporation? What are they up to? And more importantly, how can these things be appearing? Their creator, and the creature they're based off of are long dead, all of them thought destroyed. In fact, Locke City's guardian is something else entirely now!
These events, and the green goop from the start of the game are indeed all related, as different as they may seem.
For now, we'll leave you all with a hint that they keyword to all of this is "memory." Something's clearly starting up, but it's quite a bit different from what the Numbered have faced in the past!
Feedback!
Feedback is very important to us! We need to know what we're doing right, and what we could improve on! We want to create a fun game for everyone to enjoy, and give players the freedom to have the kind of fun they want. Is there a certain sort of thing you want to see more of? Soemthing you'd like to see less of?
At the start of the game, we've gotten a little bit of conflicting feedback - some said we started too slow! Others said we started too fast! Of course, both are valid depending on your perspective, and our reasons were pretty simple - we gave a soft plot push at the start because old players were still settling themselves in, and working on their reclaims. Meanwhile, the three plots running together at the start of August was meant to do our first full month with a bang - and give points of interest to three of the major "plot cities" introduced at the start. In the future, things will probably be spread out a little more - unless you'd rather us toss multiple things out into the open at once to see what happens!
We're flexible. Just make sure you tell us!
Oh, and also...
Do take note of that awfully suspicious dark power that flowed into several of the dinosaurs in the Incursion! Why, there was even some girl who could summon a monster, and sicced it on others... There's a wide array of options available to everyone out there, even beyond the overall game plot. Be sure to check them out, okay? :D
Activity Check and Reclaims Closing
Just one last little thing: Our first activity check is coming! But... don't go scrambling just yet. We'll just be doing a simple check in for the first month! Look for it on September 1st. It'll give you an idea of how we're going about things, and our first reall, full fledged AC will be posted on October 1st!
Additionally, the free character reclaims from Save the Earth will close on August 25th, a month after Raise the Earth began! Be sure to get them in if you haven't already, or else you'll have to app your character like normal!
