Plot Update: October 16th, 2015

Hey, everyone! It's time for another plot post! The second Echo Incursion event has come and gone, and while various actions have been made against Thunder Corp, certain details still remain in the shadows.

As always, plot events in Raise the Earth generally aren't going to take care of themselves - even phenomena that come to an end will have fallout and lingering after-effects. Take to the streets, investigate, compare notes, and take action!

Recent Events

From October 1st to the 14th, a worldwide Echo Incursion occurred where facets of people's past lives literally materialized in the real world. Much like the dinosaurs before them, these things still remain unless otherwise destroyed, but new incursions seem to have stopped. Unlike the last one, this was not as focused, and spread out over a smaller span of time.

In addition, the details regarding the informant's leak regarding Thunder Corp were made known to the Network at large, though it remains a secret to the public. One individual, Alexandra Ryker, attempted to attack the warehouse where the object was being kept (though her identity isn't known to anyone), but she and her monster were repelled by a combination of Numbered and private security. However, said private security were clad in armor seemingly not of this world...

Game News

A new test drive is coming up, and one of the prompts will be a current game event like last time! For details, check the "Things Coming Soon" tab below. Other than that, we have the rest of October coming up, and the November Activity Check is on the horizon.

Things Coming Soon

The next event is the Factor Industries charity benefit, which we told you about in our last post, and which Sonia Kaiser recently brought to the network's attention here. This will be a general post for your characters to mingle and interact with in person, and which serves as an example of something we want to provide monthly going forward. So if you want to build new CR, this is the place for your characters to be! It will be occurring, ICly, on October 18th (Sunday), and be posted tomorrow, the 17th (Saturday). This event will also be on the new test drive, which will also be going up on Saturday!

The intent of the party is to provide an alternative voice to Thunder Corp's in Locke City, so they will be inviting people to speak (and some indeed have already agreed to do so, including Philip Santorini and Kirara Hoshimoto!), and to show that Numbered care about the repercussions of the invasion and healing old wounds without necessarily having to throw their lot in with Thunder Corp. If you'd like to have characters do so, you can reply there, or, if you'd rather handwave it, just respond here in the space below! We'd really like to encourage characters to take this opportunity, as it gives you a chance for your character to gain some influence and affect public opinion.

Things Coming Later

Thunder Corp is still operating in the shadows, and they'll be looking to make good on some of the alliances they've tried to make as well as acting against those who have already made moves against them. What's more, November has the potential to turn characters' eyes west towards the Western Territories and New Los Angeles, so keep your eyes open.

Echo Opportunities

Using a teleporter for the first time since July 25th gives a plot Echo, even to characters that already received such Echoes before that date.

As always, canon recurrences give matching Echoes. Note that these can stack with the upcoming plot echoes as well.

Does your character need a job?

Simple as that: Both of Saretha's subsidiary companies, Kaiser Construction and Kaiser Technologies, are willing to take on new employees. Everything ranging from hard manual labor to cushy lab jobs are possible.

ICly, Saretha might verbally pick apart anyone she might hire. Not all characters, in-universe, are people she would, so bear that in mind. However, she is interested in hand-picking a few Numbered to staff things for Reasons.

So if you are curious, hit me up!

Weller would be interested in applying for one of those lab jobs, alongside his current independent contract work. And maybe also spy on her for the people he signed up with.

I imagine he'd run into some trouble on that front though. >_> Which I welcome.

Saretha would have to be the one to suggest it (because Nathan isn't that bold), but there's the possibility that Nathan would be willing to get in on this purely for Reasons. Of course, he has responsibilities and such in Shepherd's Haven, but for the purpose of Reasons, something might be able to be worked out. As to where to put him, he's quite good with computers, so yay, a legitimately useful skill?

Haha, yes. Saretha could definitely do that, maybe given another thread or two here and there. And hey, there are transporters - he can get back and forth if need be.

If there're any jobs in modelling or acting in advertisements, Mina'll be applying (though I fully expect that she won't necessarily get a job). She's been desperate ever since her modelling/ad acting career got sunk by her temper. She does have a lengthy resume starting from when she was a child.

At the moment, those things are a little bit outside Saretha's wheelhouse - however, from the fashion boutique she used to own in Locke City, she does have connections and could probably get Mina in touch with a modeling agency? It's not quite the direct plot involvement, but it's a feasible thing Saretha can help with.

Doppelganger Disaster

Already talked to you guys about this some but toward the end of the month Damon, Tony's doppelganger, is going to make a strike on Shepard's Haven. It took him a while to get to town, but once he arrives he plans on making a pretty loud statement.

In the form of tearing up anyone who gets in the way of his warpath, and probably some pretty severe property damage? Figured I'd open this up for anyone else who might want to try to intercept him. Or put out fires, or what have you I dunno.

Of course Lazarus is going to be around for this and quite possibly trying to actively intercept it. (If this happens on Halloween night like we talked about, that's his birthday, on top of everything else.) Of course, we all know just how Lazarus and Dante stack up physically, so it'll be in the form of peace offering and pleading. If (or when) that proves unsuccessful, he'll dedicate his time and energy to running around and making sure that people and animals aren't in harm's way.

tl;dr someone save him please.

Nux will be there too, desperately and unwisely trying to fight fires, help animals, and maybe even fight Dante. So someone save HIM, too.

If Lazarus has any say whatsoever in this, he and Misa will both be shoved into the underground storm shelter by Town Hall and told not to come out under any circumstances until he says the coast is clear. :| His canon family can come to no harm under his scrawny watch.

Unfortunately I don't think so. Damon hasn't made anything public about his threats and Nux hasn't been smart enough to take him seriously. Now once things start going down if one of the characters involved or in hiding make an announcement perhaps that could be arranged?

You are absolutely welcome to but I must advise that direct confrontation with the doppelganger will almost definitely end in serious injury. He won't be reasoned with. And while he's not out to destroy the numbered at this time, he's just making a show, that doesn't mean he won't be leaving a trail of wounded behind him.
