Plot Post: November 20th, 2015

Hey, everyone! It's time for another plot post! First off, we apologize for this not being done sooner - we said in our last plot post that it'd be part one of two, but real life and various responsibilities got in the way. The rest of November is going to be pretty light, but let's cover what's going to happen!

As always, plot events in Raise the Earth generally aren't going to take care of themselves - even phenomena that come to an end will have fallout and lingering after-effects. Take to the streets, investigate, compare notes, and take action!

Recent Events

The attack on Shepherd's Haven remains a fairly recent memory, with discussion about it ongoing (see below). The monsters continue to menace New Los Angeles, with fear growing there even as the city begins its rise from the ashes. In addition, both Thunder Corp and the mysterious "informant" pointed the Numbered in the direction of the city.

Game News
As stated previously, November's activity check has been changed to a check-in. December's will be the same, due to the holidays and the various effects of the retail season for those players that work.

Media/State of the World

Factor Industries' gala in support of the Numbered has had some positive effects, in regards to the wider opinion of the Numbered. In Locke, public opinion has become divided; more individuals are willing to speak in favor of them, especially in regards to some of the various phenomena being stopped by Numbered. However, support for Thunder Corp is still as high as it has ever been, with many local politicians pledging and advocating their support of the company, and some still believe Numbered are as responsible for bringing these events to their doorstep as they are for stopping them.

Meanwhile, news of the attack on Shepherd's Haven has splintered opinion as well. The Numbered's own refuge coming under attack has opened up questions about their ability to protect themselves and work together. There has been some sympathy expressed by the world at large, and while this is the majority opinion in Christchurch and Woodend, some people are expressing fear of what else might emerge. The perpetrator's identity is speculation for now, but concerns over him or more rogue individuals with powers causing damage is raising concern and speculation for what else might emerge.

Similarly, there has also been talk about a mysterious, white haired young woman who attacked a facility in Locke in October. Details on the whereabouts and any other information about her, and the Shepherd's Haven attacker, have been called for by organizations worldwide.

Meanwhile, the monsters appearing in New Los Angeles, on the heels of other creatures appearing throughout the world, have increased paranoia in a post-invasion world. Calls have been made to the various governing bodies of the world regarding an organization meant to deal with these beings, but all it has officially done is start a dialogue.

Things Coming Soon
This weekend, Sonia Clarke is going to be making an announcement on the Network addressing recent events, including the attack on Shepherd's Haven and public opinion towards the Numbered. Aside from that, as stated, we're going to keep the remainder of November light; the monster event will continue to run through the month.

In addition, there will be an IC post this weekend where you can post what your characters have been doing regarding the media, or anything that would be NOTICED by the media, if anything! Please keep an eye out for it.

Things Coming Later

In December, the reconstruction efforts in New Los Angeles are set to end, with a mingle event associated with it. There will also be a pick-up from our previous game, with a trip to the christmas village in Nuremberg, Germany sometime in December as well. Aside from that, things will continue to develop in New Los Angeles.

Echo Opportunities
  • Encountering a monster gives a plot Echo, once per character.
  • Using a teleporter for the first time since July 25th gives a plot Echo, even to characters that already received such Echoes before that date.
  • Encountering Vermini or a Vermedi for the first time since July 25th will also provide one plot echo. Just as with the teleporter, this has now reset, and you will receive an echo from them even if you had before now.
  • As always, canon recurrences give matching Echoes. Note that these can stack with the upcoming plot echoes as well.

That's all we have! There's a space below to ask any questions, and to plot or sign up characters to speak in the upcoming event if you're so inclined. There is also a space for anyone to submit player plots they have cooking up, so if you have something you'd like to organize, you have a space to do so!
