Announcement: Game closure
Hello, everyone. I'm sure many of you expected this sort of announcement, given how long it's been. This isn't the easiest thing to admit, and it regards a decision that we didn't make easily, but given the amount of time, we decided it was high time to make it.
Raise the Earth is unfortunately closing down. We spoke last month about transforming it into a moderated musebox, but unfortunately, after making that decision, we struggled with figuring out most of the changes that were necessary for that kind of shift in focus. Most notably, we couldn't figure out answers to the questions of where to take the plot, and how to scale it and reconcile it with the resources we did and didn't have. Even a musebox requires some kind of direction, and yet, here we are a month later still struggling to figure that direction out.
Not knowing how to continue, even with less exacting demands for activity, is not fair to all of you. As much as we regret having to close the game, we don't think we can continue things as they are in a way that satisfies what's necessary to keep a game going. We apologize for those of you who waited so long for a response from us on this matter, and would like to stress that we didn't come to this decision lightly.
To everyone who played here in the short time we were open, both new players and those who are veterans from Save the Earth, we would like to thank you. We've all made important and irreplaceable friends here and in our predecessor game, and we wouldn't trade any of that for the world. Wherever the future takes us, we'll still always have that. From the mod team to you, thank you so much, again, for making this memorable, and for being a great group of role-players.
To wherever and whenever we meet again,
- Raz, Ken, and Salsa
